AXOOM and TRUMPF win the German Industry Innovation Award

During a festive awards gala on Saturday, April 16, 2016, AXOOM and TRUMPF won the German Industry Innovation Award – The World’s First Innovation Award® 2015/2016 in the category Industry 4.0.

Around 500 guests representing industry, science, politics and business took part in the 35th gala celebrating the German economy. The prize has been awarded since 1979 and represents a long tradition. The organizer for the innovation prize is the First Innovation Award 1979 GmbH, part of the Wirtschaftsclub Rhein-Main e.V.

Günther H. Oettinger, EU Commissioner for Digital Economy & Society, awarded the prizes across the four categories as well as held the speech honoring the winner of the special “Most Innovative CEO International” award, Prof. Dr. Utz Claassen. The Innovation Prize is sponsored by Sigmar Gabriel, the German Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy. Jan Hofer, main anchor for Taggesschau, moderated the festivities at the evening gala.

The most important scientific, technological, entrepreneurial and intellectual innovations in the German economy were recognized.  Nobel prize winner Klaus von Klitzing explained the rigorous selection process at the event. The high quality of submissions from across different industry branches, which resulted in 16 finalist nominations across 4 categories by a high-caliber committee, are a testament to the impressive strength of German innovation. The winners in recent decades have established themselves as drivers of the German economy. In addition to the level of innovation, the marketability, profitability, innovation management and the sustainability of the presented concepts were decisive criteria in the selection of the winners.

We would like to extend our congratulations to the winners in the other categories, as well as our fellow finalists in the Industry 4.0 category.
